Voice and Speech Class | Why Actors Need Voice Training | 917-606-0982
http://www.maggieflaniganstudio.com/class-descriptions/ Alyssa Ciccarello is the head of voice and speech at the Maggie Flaningan Studio in NYC. In this video Alyssa explains why actors need to train their voices. The Actor has to train their voice, his or her voice, to fully serve their expression. By fully I mean freely and without inhibition. Th problem there is that you are going to have physiological, psychological blocks and tensions that inhibit your voice. So the purpose of this training is to liberate your voice from those tensions so that it can authentically communicate your impulse, your thought feeling impulse, your desire to speak. What Kristin Linklater did is to develop a series of exercises which liberates the body from tensions but stimulates the impulse that is the originator if the desire to communicate. Then the actor can freely give over to that and the actor then doe not have to manipulate his or her voice.
